Good questions, answered.
Do I need a referral to be seen?
In most cases, no. Minnesota's direct-access law lets you see a physical therapist for up to 90 days without a physician's referral. Medicare is the main exception and still requires one. If your care needs to continue past 90 days, we'll help coordinate a referral.
Do you take insurance?
ENIGMA is cash-based, which keeps care unhurried and pricing transparent. We don't bill insurance, but you're welcome to use your HSA or FSA card — and you'll always know the cost up front.
What exactly is musculoskeletal ultrasound?
It's real-time imaging of muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, and joints using a handheld probe, right in the treatment room. It helps us see how your tissue moves, guide treatment precisely, and track healing over time. It's performed by an RMSK-certified provider as part of your physical therapy — not as a substitute for medical imaging your physician might order.
How is this different from a typical PT clinic?
You get the entire appointment one-on-one with your doctor — no aides, no being handed off, no double-booking. Fewer patients per day means more attention, faster progress, and care that's actually built around you.
How many visits will I need?
It depends on your goals and what we find at the evaluation. Because visits are focused and one-on-one, many people need fewer total sessions than they'd expect. You'll get an honest estimate after your first visit.
Where are you located and how do I park?
We're inside Mark 44 MMA at 219 S. Victory Dr., Mankato, MN 56001, with on-site parking. See the contact page for a map and hours.
What should I wear to my visit?
Comfortable, athletic clothing you can move in — and something that gives us easy access to the area that's bothering you (for example, shorts for a knee issue or a tank top for a shoulder).
